Dave Price
Dave Price has been making music since a young age, starting on violin and piano before discovering the endless sound world of percussion. After a music degree at Durham University he received a three-year scholarship to study contemporary classical percussion with
Stanislaw Skoczynski at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw. In 1999 he attended the European Percussion Academy at the Aix-en-Provence festival, working closely with the leading exponents of French contemporary percussion music – Trio le Cercle, Percussions du Strasbourg and Ensemble Intercontemporain.
Since returning to London, he has developed a career as a musician and composer, exploring a broad creative outlook. Dave is an associate of award-winning physical theatre company Gecko, whose current production The Overcoat is touring internationally. He has composed music for numerous theatre productions and his piece Lee’s Game was short-listed for a BASCA Composers Award 2008.
Dave works regularly with singer-songwriter Gwyneth Herbert and the pop group Aqualung with whom he has recorded several albums and toured internationally.
In 2009 he was Musical Director on a special project at the Lyric Hammersmith working with a group of autistic children which was filmed for a Channel 4 documentary called Young, Autistic and Stagestruck. Other recent highlights include recording with Regina Spektor and gigs with Max de Wardener and English folk band Bellowhead.
Dave plays C & C Custom drums, Bosphorus Cymbals and a Ross vibraphone.
